It is with deep regret that I have to announce that Richard Arthur (Bill) Creswick passed away on 9th January 2017. I understand that Bill was a main instigator in forming the reunion at Caythorpe. I was privileged to have been taken to Fulbeck hall and shown around the museum when it was housed there. Bill was 99, in recent years he has not been able to get to Caythorpe for the reunion as his health stopped him getting out. His very good friend Richard Appleton, took the salute a few years ago at Caythorpe. Bill will be greatly missed. His funeral will take place at Wilford Hill crematorium, West Bridgford on Monday 30th January 2017 at 11.00 am. They shall not grow old. A gentleman and friend will be greatly missed.

Keith, it was such a long time ago. I know that Dick Hamilton was, but sadly he is no longer with us. I do remember doing the whole ex on foot with manpacks and attending the drumhead service near the canal for the casualties.

Webmaster comments   Yes, Dick sent me a few notes on his experiences a while back. I guess there must have been others from the Squadron.

Sheila Fielding - It is with regret we inform you of the death of Sheila. As OC's wife she was very supportive to many in the Squadron during her time in Aldershot.

The following snippet from The Airborne Net was forwarded by Craig Treeby and may be of interest to those that can remember Bold Guard - Kiel Canal Exercise Bold Guard. Clive Dunning (ex-Company Commander 15 PARA) intends to make a video archive of the Kiel Canal incident which occurred on Exercise Bold Guard on the 11th September 1974. The airlift from the UK comprised of 35 Hercules aircraft (C130s) carrying around 600 troops and their heavy drop vehicles. Owing to a freak temperature inversion resulting in wind shear, the winds at between 800 feet and 600 feet changed direction, causing 16 of the Parachute Regiment soldiers to land in the Canal, causing the death by drowning of 6 Paratroopers. The archive will be of peoples experiences on that fateful night and the archive will be constructed in March-April 2017. Anyone who would like to make a contribution and to tell their story should call Clive on 0141 3443358 on 07719 345124.
